About Naishi

Naishi Project is a five-year HIV prevention, care and treatment program funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). NAISHI is a Swahili word meaning I LIVE and is focused on achieving HIV epidemic control in Machakos, Makueni and Kitui.

Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties are located in the Lower Eastern part of Kenya with a combined population of approximately 3,545,772 and a HIV prevalence of 3.7%, 3.9% and 5.7%, respectively for adults aged 15 – 64 years.

Working in collaboration with County Departments of Health, Naishi seeks to achieve HIV epidemic control by supporting the implementation and expansion of high quality, sustainable and comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs across CHS supported health facilities in the Eastern region. Antiretroviral Therapy

By 2030, 95% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy
