Through its Centers for Disease Prevention and Control Program (CDC) funded Tegemeza program, CHS handed over furniture and medical equipment to Maina Village Dispensary in Nyahururu, Laikipia West sub-county.
The items which included drug and filing cabinets, desks, chairs, adult and paediatric weighing scales, digital thermometers, a diagnostic set, a digital BP machine and an examination couch, form part of the latest CHS support to this health facility.
“We value and appreciate the partnership with CHS that Laikipia County has enjoyed over the years, and this hand over continues to serve as a testament of the MoU in place and the good relations we continue to have as partners in health provision,” said the County Executive Committee Member of Health for Laikipia County, Dr David Njoroge.
Since inception of CHS support to Maina Village Dispensary in December 2014, CHS has enhanced human resource capacity at the facility by engaging the services of a clinician, HIV Testing & Counselling (HTC) counsellor and a Peer Educator. Capacity building of the staff, support for county supervision, laboratory sample transport and pharmacy logistical support, form inclusive benefits that the facility enjoys through CHS support.
Maina Village is the largest informal settlement in Laikipia County, and CHS is proud to partner with the county to ensure that the community members receive high quality HIV and TB Care and Treatment. Other areas of support by CHS include: Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC), Adherence, Psychosocial Support and Community (APSC), Pharmacy & Laboratory Support, and TB/HIV co-infection.
